The 109km HS1 infrastructure includes diverse assets like track, signalling, overhead lines, buildings, depots, viaducts, and tunnels. NRHS also manages three international stations: St Pancras, Stratford, and Ebbsfleet International.

As a subsidiary of Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd, NRHS is privately financed. We undertake a range of activities from railway infrastructure maintenance and operations to station facilities and retail.

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity within Network Rail High Speed for a Head of Analysis & Reporting.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for financial analysis and management reporting, delivering high-quality insight to support executive decision-making, Board assurance, and external stakeholder requirements.
  • Own and develop the end-to-end financial reporting framework, ensuring consistency, transparency, and a clear line of sight between operational performance, financial outcomes, and long-term strategy.
  • Lead the development of medium-to-long-term financial forecasts and business plans, integrating business strategy, investment plans, and risk assumptions to support sustainable decision-making and regulatory confidence.
  • Act as the senior finance lead for performance insight and investment appraisal, providing robust financial challenge and assurance across the full investment lifecycle.
  • Deliver clear, influential financial commentary and insight for senior leadership forums, Performance Reviews, and Boards, focused on value for money, drivers of performance, and delivery confidence.
  • Build strong partnerships across NRHS to ensure analysis and reporting are aligned to business priorities and support joined-up decision-making.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing analysis and reporting team, setting clear standards, building capability, and flexing resources to meet priority business needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial insight, reporting processes, and data quality, strengthening governance, controls, and audit assurance while improving efficiency and automation.

The Person

So, who are we looking for? If you can answer ‘yes’ to the following questions, then we look forward to receiving your application.

Essential

  • Full membership of a relevant professional body (qualified by experience will be considered).
  • Demonstrable experience in a relevant financial or business discipline.
  • Relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Excellent financial analytical and modelling experience with investment appraisal techniques.
  • Experience advising and collaborating with senior staff at Head of, Director, and Board level.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel (or equivalent spreadsheet package) and analytical skills to critically analyse large data.
  • Engaging, relevant, and adaptable communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrates good team behaviours and adherence to workplace ethics.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a matrix management organisation.
  • Experience of using business intelligence platforms such as Power BI.
  • Other relevant professional or academic qualifications.
  • Experience in leading financial planning & analysis teams in a dynamic environment.

How to Apply

The role is based at London, Stratford Place, however, frequent travel to our other office and site locations along the High Speed line is expected.

We follow a structured pay framework. Any salary offered will be within the following pay range: £71,163 – £84,437 (dependent on experience), plus inner London allowance (£3,270), plus car allowance (£6k), plus family healthcare cover.
