Salary: £38,000 + Location Allowance and Role Associated Allowances

About the Role

We’re looking for a Track Quality Supervisor to ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of all on-track machine operations – including tamping and stoneblower activities. If you have a strong understanding of track geometry and on-track plant, this is your chance to make a real impact on the reliability and safety of the rail network.

What You’ll Do

  • Supervise on-track machine operations to achieve optimum output and meet required standards.
  • Mark up obstructions for tamping/stoneblower operations and liaise with machine operators to ensure quality results.
  • Check machine output and verify work meets design specifications.
  • Mark up design lifts and slues, review schemes, and check clearances through structures.
  • Plan and carry out site inspections to identify preparatory work for tamping/stoneblower operations, coordinating with Track Section Managers.
  • Direct and supervise staff assisting with on-track machine operations.
  • Produce and maintain accurate paper and electronic records of tamping/stoneblower activities.
  • Support additional duties as directed by the Assistant Track Maintenance Engineer.

Your Experience and Skills

What you’ll need

  • Knowledge of on-track machines and their operation.
  • Strong understanding of track geometry principles.
  • Experience in track geometry measurement and setting out for on-track plant.
  • Competent to Engineering Supervisor level.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of track geometry design.

Important Information

This is a safety-critical role, which means you’ll need to pass a medical assessment and be subject to drug and alcohol testing. Your role will involve working days, nights and weekends, so flexibility is necessary.
