We’re looking for a Roster Clerk to create cost-effective and efficient rosters for our employees, ensuring compliance with operational standards, rostering principles, and competency requirements. You’ll play a key role in keeping our workforce organised and our railway running smoothly.

About the Role

🌟 What You’ll Do

  • Compile and publish rosters using the Corporate Rostering Tool in line with National Rostering Principles, company policies, and standards.
  • Prepare rosters for weekly/daily duties, covering sickness, annual leave, training, briefings, and special arrangements.
  • Liaise with local managers to cross-check roster data and ensure accuracy.
  • Manage short-notice roster changes, communicating with affected employees and managers, and resolving queries promptly.
  • Maintain and control leave records, including input for annual leave rosters.
  • Arrange rosters for medical examinations, interviews, and safety-critical competency renewals.
  • Monitor competency data to ensure no shifts are left uncovered due to expired qualifications.
  • Validate roster data through pre- and post-payroll checks and submit late changes to payroll.
  • Gather and analyse fatigue data, highlighting issues to line managers.
  • Provide accurate information and data to support route reporting requirements.

What You Need

  • Excellent knowledge of National Rostering Principles.
  • Proven ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in analysing data and producing reports.
  • Understanding of conditions of service and rostering systems.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage data accurately.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, including virtual collaboration.
  • Good general IT skills.

  • Understanding of pay arrangements for rostered staff.
  • Geographical knowledge of the route.
  • Knowledge of the UK rail industry.
