Since we took over the East Coast route, we’ve been changing the face of travel. Our new fleet of Azuma trains are delivering faster journey times, more space, comfort and greater reliability. Our exciting plans to embrace new ideas, experiences, backgrounds and ambitions make this the ideal time to join. We were the first and are currently the only franchised rail operator to achieve customer numbers back to pre-pandemic levels and we are leading the charge to transform rail through digital and customer focussed innovation.

Bringing passion. Being bold. Always caring. Owning it. They’re the values that make us LNER.

What you’ll be doing.

As LNER’s Resource Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in creating, delivering, and communicating efficient resourcing plans across LNER Stations, and On-Train teams. You will lead a geographically dispersed team of resourcing professionals to ensure optimal staff deployment.

Working closely with Customer Experience Resource Strategy Manager, you will identify and develop rostering processes and principles that align with business needs. Your goal is to ensure our staff are deployed efficiently and effectively, adapting to changing business requirements by influencing and engaging stakeholders across the organization.

Collaboration and influencing skills are crucial, as you will work with operational management and Trades Unions colleagues during the planning, delivery, and review phases of any rostering changes, ensuring smooth transitions.

Success in this role will be measured through various KPIs, reflecting efficient coverage across frontline teams, supporting operational teams in reducing staff unavailability, and improving rostering efficiency and flexibility. Identifying and challenging inefficiencies in a traditional environment is key, making your impact and influencing skills essential.
