About the Role

The rail industry offers fantastic career development and opportunities. We want our teams to reflect the communities they serve, and our aim is for our teams to mirror the local population with representation across society. Becoming a Rail Enforcement Officer is a great way to achieve this.

You will need strong customer service skills coupled with excellent interpersonal abilities and an innate talent for building constructive relationships with people at all levels, whether that is our customers or the community surrounding our network.

Job Purpose

Increase passenger and employee confidence by reducing low-level crime and antisocial behaviour. You will patrol trains and stations independently and as part of a team. You will also work in partnership with other departments and outside agencies, including the police, to ensure the security of our railway and to reduce crime, anti-social behaviour, and fare evasion. You will respond to emergencies and provide assistance as required to GTR personnel, police, and other emergency services. Additionally, you will engage with GTR customers to raise safety and security awareness and improve customer satisfaction.

What We Can Offer You

  • Final salary pension
  • Free travel on GTR and sister groups for you and your family
  • 75% off travel on other train operating companies for you, and leisure travel for your family
  • A benefits package that includes discounts with many retailers

GTR offers maternity, paternity, and adoption leave, and time off for prenatal care, as well as shared parental leave. These are all part of our commitment to family-friendly policies.

Please refer to our Job Profile for a full description of what is required.

Please note that you will be required to take part in the BTP Vetting procedure, which is a similar, but more stringent, process than a CRB check.
