Job Brief / Purpose

We’re looking for a motivated and people-focused Project Manager to join us on a 12-month opportunity which has the potential to go permanent. The role will be helping to shape and deliver a range of change projects in the Infrastructure Maintenance function. We work across a wide portfolio of programmes and projects including technology, safety, people, and planning that make a real difference to our frontline maintenance teams. In this role, you’ll manage the development and delivery of change initiatives to agreed scope, time, cost, and quality requirements. You’ll work closely with Subject Matter Experts, Senior Sponsors, Functional Directors, and their representatives, building strong relationships and bringing people together to deliver successful outcomes. About the role

As a Project Manager, you’ll:

  • Agree the remit, objectives, and success criteria of change projects with Executive Sponsors and Functional Directors.
  • Manage the end-to-end development and delivery of change projects in line with company processes and procedures.
  • Produce and maintain clear project management plans to support effective delivery.
  • Establish and lead collaborative, cross-functional (often virtual) teams to deliver agreed outcomes.
  • Provide regular, clear progress updates, highlighting risks and issues, to senior stakeholders.
  • Manage project budgets and ensure delivery remains within agreed financial targets.
  • Promote and monitor the use of efficiency and continuous improvement methods.
  • Capture and share lessons learned to support future project delivery.

Your Experience and Skills

Essential

  • Relevant experience in the successful management of major and complex change projects.
  • Experience of applying project methodologies.

Desirable

  • Educated to degree level.
  • Member of a project association.
  • Commercial and financial awareness.
  • Knowledge of the principles of investment processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of/experience in the UK rail industry.

Band & Salary: £46,701 – £55,411
