We are looking for a confident and decisive Incident Manager to join our Talent Pool for our Control team in Derby. This safety-critical role is pivotal to leading EMR’s tactical response to incidents, keeping customers informed, minimising disruption, and restoring services as quickly and safely as possible.

The Role
As EMR’s embedded Silver Commander, you will:
- Lead and coordinate the operational response to incidents across our network.
- Apply real-time operational safety rules and standards to protect our people and customers.
- Develop and deliver tactical plans that restore services efficiently.
- Work closely with Network Rail, on-call managers, train crew, and other stakeholders.
- Provide timely, accurate updates to customers and colleagues.
- Keep detailed and accurate incident logs, including actions, decisions, and rationale.
- Oversee the minute-by-minute safe delivery of allocated EMR service groups (Intercity & Connect or Regional) where required in the absence of the Train Service Manager / where necessary.
About You
You will be calm under pressure, able to make fast, informed decisions in challenging situations, and keep customer experience at the forefront of your approach. You’ll also bring:
- Proven experience in incident management.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
- Confidence in using operational systems and IT applications.
- Knowledge of EMR’s fleets and operating geography (or willingness to learn).
- Flexibility to work a 24/7 shift pattern.
- A recognised assessor qualification would be an advantage, but training can be provided.
