Who is this opportunity for?
This is an internal-only opportunity for existing Fleet colleagues who are currently fulfilling an Assistant Technician / Team Member role and are ready to take the next step in their career.
If you are passionate about developing your technical skills, gaining a nationally recognised qualification, and progressing towards Technician / Senior Team Member level, this condensed apprenticeship is designed for you.
About the programme
You’ll join our Fleet Production Team on an 18-month condensed training programme, aligned to the competence level of our Technician / Senior Team Member role.
At the end of the programme, you’ll achieve:
- Nationally Recognised Level 3 Rail Engineering Technician (Traction & Rolling Stock) qualification.
- The skills, knowledge, and confidence to progress into a Technician / Senior Team Member role.
What you’ll gain:
- Strong safety knowledge – Understand and apply essential health & safety procedures, including working safely trackside, hazard identification, and incident prevention.
- Mathematical skills – Develop the applied maths skills needed
- Mechanical principles – Learn how mechanical systems work in relation to the role of a technician
- Electrical Principals – Gain a solid foundation in Electrical engineering principles to diagnose, maintain, and improve railway systems.
