Brief Description

Provide a comprehensive engineering support service to Regions, focused on specified delivery units.

About the role

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist in providing assurance as to whether engineering maintenance regimes for specific routes are being followed in accordance with company policies, standards and specifications.
  • Support the provision of an engineering support service focused on specified delivery units, but also supporting other delivery units when required.
  • Support the provision of technical briefings associated with the discipline to engineers in specified delivery units in order that the purpose, as well as the content of standards, specification, etc. is understood.
  • Monitor the technical competence of engineers associated with the discipline in specified delivery units.
  • Review and comment on derogation and non-compliance applications to related standards.
  • Support the provision of advice and guidance to the delivery unit engineers in the production of business-focused renewals proposals.
  • Support the provision of engineering input to the implementation of the maintenance audit programme.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential:

  • HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject.
  • Working towards membership of a relevant professional institution.
  • Experience in engineering.
  • An understanding of the maintenance of assets.
  • Knowledge of the relevant technical, safety and performance standards.
  • Holds relevant professional licenses and technical qualifications, or capable of achieving within reasonable timescales.
  • Holds valid UK driving license, or eligible and willing to obtain.

Desirable:

  • Degree in a relevant subject.
  • Incorporated or Chartered Engineer.
  • Understanding and experience of railway infrastructure maintenance.
  • Experience of undertaking engineering assurance activities, including competence assessment.
